In the latter months of 2022, it was literally the talk of the online business world! Everyone is freaking out: Is the GPT-3 chat bot going to end the careers of the content creators like you and me? It’s too early to give a definite answer, but I have some thoughts on this one.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, in late 2022, Open AI released the first commercially available AI-powered chatbot. Previously, it was only available to big corporations and people working with AI technology first-hand.
Marketers and business owners could only use scripted chatbots built for specific tasks. Now you can get your hands on a chatbot that is pre-trained for a staggering range of topics. A chatbot capable of mimicking human conversation like never before.
What is GPT 3 Open AI?
ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It is built on top of OpenAI’s GPT-3 family of large language models and is designed to interact in a conversational manner. ChatGPT is capable of understanding natural human language and generating quite accurate responses. It is trained on a huge collection of conversational data, making it rather capable in understanding the context of conversations and producing answers very similar to what a person would say.
Open Ai, as a company, has been very busy these past several months, and they have a lot to show for it. They’ve released a variety of products and services.
- OpenAI API, which allows developers to use OpenAI’s language models to create AI-powered applications,
- the OpenAI Gym, which is a toolkit for developing and comparing reinforcement learning algorithms, and datasets such as the OpenAI Text 8 and the OpenAI WebText datasets.
- OpenAI has also released several language models including GPT-3, GPT-2, and DialoGPT.
GPT 3 bot business ideas
Since GPT 3 is a deep learning-based natural language processing (NLP) system, this means it can generate human-like text with no additional training data or much correction. As a result, many might be interested in the possible use cases for a business.
GPT-3 is suitable for a variety of business purposes. It has been used to create applications such as customer service or sales chatbots, natural language processing (NLP) applications, and summarization tools. Some even say you can use it for content creation, such as generating blog posts and articles. Although I would still prefer to read an article written a competent author. GPT-3 is good at creating product descriptions, article titles and social media content captions.
I personally tried it and captions usually turn out to be short, no more than a few words, attention-grabbing, and relevant to the content of the post.
Additionally, GPT-3 can be used to generate code, which is super helpful in software development. It does not really create a whole new code, but it helps the developers find a needed chunk of code without wasting tons of time on the web.
What are the disadvantages of chat GPT 3?
Yes, there are some potential disadvantages to using ChatGPT. One is that since it is an AI-powered language model, it is still prone to errors, and the produced results may be misleading or nonsensical. Obviously, since GPT-3 is a statistical model, it is not quite ready to provide truly human-like conversations, as it does not possess the same contextual awareness and knowledge that people do. And finally, the cost of using GPT-3 can absolutely discourage some users, as the price of using its API can be quite high. At least for now, when the market is not saturated with many similar solutions.
AI chatbots can’t think outside the box
AI chatbots might replace some freelance writers, but they need human interactions to actually solve issues. GPT 3 just won’t be able to do anything beyond its AI model. GPT-3 needs input from the user be it a marketer, business owner, or your uncle. – Plus—You require a human, again, to deal with the output.
Chatbots don’t have soft skills
AI technology is not at the level where it can match the human understanding of a situation. Take the hiring process as an example. Business owners and recruiters when dealing with potential employees check the applicant for all sorts of soft skills. We’re talking—critical and creative thinking, teamwork, empathy, effective communication, and emotional intelligence.
I mean, a GPT-3 bot can come up with a quick reply to your quarry but don’t expect it to crack a well-timed joke or a cheerful remark.
AI can’t make decisions
It is not exactly allowed to make decisions, to be correct.
AI-based chatbots can learn and remember you and your data while chatting with you, but they only think inside the box, within their model template. They don’t have their life experience to help you choose between the two options. Should I go with iPhone 13 mini or Pixel 7? My friend knows the answer, AI does not.
What I noticed when playing with GPT-3 online demo
- Does not guarantee the correct answer to the question
- Always tries to give a detailed answer, even when the answer requires a simple yes or no.
- If you slightly rephrase the question without changing the content, the answer may be completely different
- This is not true artificial intelligence, this is a template generator. ChatGPT will not build any normal answers based on predictions.
- Does not ask clarifying questions, it is quite important for inquiries related to the medical niche and other fields where it’s vital to be specific.
- It’s prone to give biased answers since the model is trained by ordinary people, as a result, it is to some extent a reflection of these people.
How can you use GPT 3 in your small business?
Apart from using it as a customer support chatbot for your pizza place, there are countless ways to use GPT 3 chat bot to improve your business processes. Here are just a few from the top of my head.
Use it in marketing
Make content calendars, compose emails, and choose names for podcasts or blog posts and product descriptions, heck, even CTA for your pop-ups.
If you run a YouTube channel, GPT-3 can create a detailed script for that. There are people out there that created books for children using AI, with pictures and everything. They are now selling these books.
Use it in your SEO
GPT-3 will surely help you with keyword research, titles, and headlines for blog posts and captions for Instagram posts. I personally hate crafting those pesky meta descriptions. To me, nothing can be more boring.
You can also use it to structure data. Quickly analyse this huge article, you’ve been trying to read for the past two hours, and extract the core information. This can be quite handy for entrepreneurs engaged in info business, creating and selling online courses, etc.
Don’t have time to draw conclusions in your latest blog article? No problemo! GPT-3 chatbot has your back.
